Huntersville Town Manager Quits After Assault Charge

Gerald Vincent

Updated Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018
The Town Manager in Huntersville has resigned, after his arrest Sunday night on a misdemeanor assault charge.

Huntersville commissioners held an emergency closed session Monday afternoon, where they accepted Gerry Vincent's resignation, effective immediately, according to the town clerk.

Mecklenburg County arrest records show Vincent was charged with "simple assault," a misdemeanor.

A Huntersville police report released Tuesday says Vincent was involved in an altercation at his home with an 18-year-old son just before 7 p.m. Sunday. The report says the son had bruises and scratches, but did not want medical treatment.

The Town of Huntersville issued a statement Monday morning, saying: "This is an unfortunate personal matter for Mr. Vincent and his family. We cannot comment further on this matter at this time."

Vincent, 51, has been town manager since last July. He served as interim town manager for several months before that. He came to the town in 2007 as assistant town manager.
