U.S. Women's National Soccer Team To Play In Charlotte For The First Time Since 2000

The Carolina Panthers

The U.S. Women's National Soccer team is coming to Charlotte for the first time in almost 20 years.

The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup champions will play a round of their Victory Tour at Bank of America Stadium against Korea on October 3.

This comes days after head coach Jill Ellis announced she will be stepping down after the Victory Tour wraps in Chicago on October 6. At the helm for the last five years, Ellis has lead the team to success with two World Cup titles from 2015 and 2019.

The women’s national team last visited in April of 2000 for a match against Iceland in the run-up to the Sydney Olympics.

The roster for the Victory Tour matches will feature all 23 players of this year’s World Cup championship squad.

Tickets go on sale to the public Thursday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. ET through ussoccer.com.
