  • N.C. Senate District 29 is the eastern part of Union County, as well as all of Anson, Richmond and Montgomery counties and most of Randolph County. According to the N.C. Board of Elections documents, it is 31% Democrat, 39% Republican and 30% unaffiliated. Incumbent Republican Dave Craven is running to be elected for the third time. Craven won his 2022 general election by a margin of 46 percentage points.
  • N.C. Senate District 35 is the western part of Union County and a sliver of Cabarrus County along its southwestern border with Mecklenburg County. It is 22% Democrat, 41% Republican and 37% unaffiliated. Incumbent Republican Todd Johnson is seeking his fourth term.
  • N.C. House District 55 has approximately 53,000 registered voters and is 38% Democrat, 33% Republican and 29% unaffiliated. District 55 includes the rural eastern part of Union County and all of Anson County. Incumbent Republican Mark Brody is seeking his seventh term in the N.C. House.
  • N.C. House District 68 is the southwestern party of Union County, adjacent to South Carolina and Mecklenburg County. It is 20% Democrat, 40% Republican and 39% unaffiliated. Incumbent Republican David Willis is vying for his third term. His opponent on the ballot is a progressive newcomer to politics.
  • Former President Barack Obama will visit Charlotte this evening for a rally in support of Kamala Harris. Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs is accused of violating the state's code of judicial conduct. FEMA expands support services to more N.C. counties. Preparations begin in uptown for this weekend's Concert for Carolina.
  • U.S. House of Representatives District 10 includes Iredell, Catawba, Lincoln, Yadkin and part of Forsyth Counties. According to the N.C. State Board of Elections data, the district is 27% Democrat, 37% Republican and 35% unaffiliated. This seat is currently held by Patrick McHenry, who has served ten terms in Congress and announced in December 2023 that he is retiring. Four candidates are vying for the role, including Republican Pat Harrigan, who is endorsed by Donald Trump and won a competitive primary in March against Grey Mills.
  • N.C. Senate District 37 is all of Iredell County and nearly 3% of Mecklenburg County voters who live along its northern border. Incumbent Republican Vickie Sawyer is seeking another term. Each N.C. Senate district represents approximately 200,000 citizens. N.C. Senate District 37’s voters split as follows: 21% are Democratic, 40% are Republican and 38% are unaffiliated voters.
  • N.C. House District 84 is north and central Iredell County. It is 24% Democrat, 41% Republican and 34% unaffiliated. Incumbent Republican Jeffrey McNeely is running to be elected for the third time. His opponent on the ballot is a progressive military veteran and newcomer to politics.
  • N.C. House District 89 includes southwest Iredell County and most of Catawba County. Incumbent Republican Mitchell Seltzer has served thirteen terms and is the second-longest serving legislator in the N.C. House. District 89 is 17% Democrat, 47% Republican and 36% unaffiliated. It has the third-lowest percent of registered Democrats in the state.
  • District 95 is currently served by Grey Mills, who ran for U.S. Congress District 10 but lost in the primary to fellow Republican Pat Harrigan, so there is no incumbent in this race. It is the southern part of Iredell County. The district is 18% Democrat, 40% Republican and 41% unaffiliated.
  • Early voting continues through 3 p.m. on Nov. 2. As of Thursday, more than two million people headed to the polls in North Carolina to cast their ballot. Still, there are concerns and misconceptions about the election.
