Some CMS Students Have Makeup Day Tuesday For December Snow

Schools are closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Tuesday is also a day off for most — but not all — students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.

Thirty-six mostly north Charlotte and north Mecklenburg Schools will be open to make up for a snow day on Dec. 11.  That day was the first time CMS has split school closings for weather reasons.

Schools that will be open Tuesday, Jan. 22:

  • Bailey MS

Meanwhile, Butler High School was also supposed to have a makeup day Tuesday, for a missed day in October after one student fatally shot another. But CMS now says the school will not be in session Tuesday, and a future makeup day will be scheduled.

CMS says that the future makeup day will allow students, staff and parents to join a teach-in and other special events  "to lift up the strength of the Butler community."
