Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are closed Wednesday because of a high-wind advisory.
Winds up to 50 mph are forecast. Catawba County Schools have also said they will operate remotely because of the wind advisory.
In a message to parents sent Tuesday at about 7:30 p.m., the school system said buses are unable to safely operate in the forecasted conditions.
"The safe operating speed for school buses is under 30 mph. Due to the severe weather advisory and out of an abundance of caution, all Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed to students on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. There will be no extracurricular activities, facility use, athletics, or before/after school programs," the school system wrote.
