Judge Denies Restraining Order For Former Atrium Provider

A judge has denied the request of former Atrium Health anesthesiology provider Mednax for a temporary restraining order to force the hospital system to keep its anesthesiologists working at its facilities.

Atrium ended its contract with Mednax and its nearly 88 doctors in January. Judge Michael Robinson wrote the restraining order was unnecessary because Mednax waited months to file the court action. Instead, the case will now be heard in June.

The new anesthesiology provider, Scope Anesthesia of North Carolina, will have its physicians start working at Atrium facilities July 1.
