CMPD Investigates Shots Fired Near Elementary School

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are investigating a shooting Monday morning on Shamrock Drive in east Charlotte.  CMPD says nobody was hurt in the incident, which was reported at 9:04 a.m. near Lawrence Orr Elementary School.

A witness told police a man was shooting at a gray car leaving the school parking lot, which then ran into her car.

The shooter ran from the scene and could not be found. A short while later, the driver of the gray car called 911 to report the shooting.

CMPD says officers believe the man with the gun and the driver of the gray car knew one another, and the the shooting was not random.
