Police say they're investigating a deadly overnight shooting in north Charlotte.

Someone called 911 just before 9:45 p.m. to report a shooting in the 2800 block of Hosta Drive, just west of West Sugar Creek Road. When Charlotte-Mecklenburg police got there, they found 24-year-old Tevonte Laquan Epps seriously wounded in the parking lot of an apartment complex and a second gunshot victim nearby.

Epps was taken to a hospital but died. The second victim is being treated at a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said the other shooting victim is male but didn't say whether he's a juvenile or an adult.

Epps' death is the 20th homicide reported by CMPD this year.

It came just two days after a 19-year-old man, Antwon Risher, was shot to death near South End. An arrest has been made in that case.

Officers are asking anyone with information on the case to call 704-432-8477
