Charlotte City Council member Tiawana Brown made her first court appearance along with her daughters in Charlotte Friday morning. The trio have been charged with fraud related to pandemic relief funds according to the US Attorney’s office in the Western District of North Carolina. According to the indictment, Brown and her daughters improperly received $124,000 in relief funds. Brown has denied the charges. Friday, she pleaded not guilty, as did her daughters. Brown left the courtroom without speaking to the media. As a condition of her release, the m required her surrender her passport but allowed her to travel within the US.
