Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup: Dan And Dan Debate; Politicians Come To Charlotte; RNC Bus Tour

Dan Bishop and Dan McCready had their only debate this week, with the special 9th district election just 2 weeks away. RNC organizers take a 3-day bus tour around the Carolinas and President Trump plans to stump for Dan Bishop, while some Democratic Presidential candidates were in town this week. The "Dans", Republican Dan Bishop and Democrat Dan McCready, participated in their first and only debate this week. The special 9th District election is coming up in just a couple weeks. We'll talk about what was said.
National politicians have been frequenting the area this week... Donald Trump, Jr. was in Charlotte to campaign for Dan Bishop, and while here for a fundraising event, Joe Biden endorsed Dan McCready. Beto O'Rourke was also in the Queen City to campaign for President. And President Trump is on his way back to North Carolina, to campaign for Dan Bishop. He’ll be in Fayetteville just one day before the election, on September 9th.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police stations will have better security, after Charlotte City Council approved money this week to expand security measures at stations around the city. This comes after police were ambushed outside police headquarters a year ago by a man with a gun. We’ll detail the new safety measures.
Council also approved money to look into the possibility of a walking and biking trail along the proposed Silver Line Light Rail. We’ll go over where the trail would go and who else is funding the study the building of the trail.
We’re just a year out from the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte, and this week, the RNC organizers kicked off a 3-day bus tour around the Carolinas. The tour started in Charlotte and went to a total of 6 cities around the state. We’ll hear more.
