European Soccer Clubs Liverpool & Dortmund Play Here In July
Two of Europe's top professional soccer clubs will face off in Charlotte this summer as part of an international soccer tournament. England's Liverpool plays Germany's Dortmund on Sunday, July 22, at 4 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium.
It's part of the International Champions Cup, an annual summer tournament that draws top teams from Europe. Games are scheduled around the world this year between July 20 and Aug. 12.
The tournament returns to Charlotte after the city missed out on hosting a game last summer. Charlotte hosted games in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Liverpool last played here in 2014, beating Italy's A.C. Milan 2-0 before a crowd of more than 69,000. Milan trained privately at Davidson College the week of the game.
Liverpool is currently third in England's Premiere League, and has advanced to the semifinals of the European Champions League. Its star is one of Europe's top scorers, Mohamed Salah.
Borussia Dortmund ranks fourth right now in Germany's Bundesliga. Among its starters is 19-year-old Christian Pulisic, who also plays on the U.S. national team. He's considered one of the top young players to come out of the United States in recent years.
Tickets go on sale next Tuesday, April 24. More info: http://www.internationalchampionscup.com/
