Police say the co-owner of Brooks' Sandwich House in Charlotte's NoDa neighborhood was shot and killed early Monday outside the restaurant.

After Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles was sworn in for her second term Monday night, she said violent crime will be a focus of City Council in 2020. Her words came on the heels of Charlotte's 103rd homicide in 2019.

Police say a 46-year-old man was shot and killed Friday night in a townhome community off Independence Boulevard, bringing the number of homicides in Charlotte this year to 102 - one of the highest totals the city has seen since 1993.

A woman was shot and killed early this morning at a party in a business park in north Charlotte. She’s been identified as 27-year-old Ebony Tamia Harrison. Police have charged 23-year-old Corey Lamar Vega with her murder.

Police say a man who was shot Oct. 21 in Charlotte has died and they've charged his alleged assailant with murder.

Police charged a man with murder nearly a month after he allegedly drove a car onto Interstate 85 in Charlotte with another man clinging to the car's door. Willie Nathaniel Corry Jr. was killed Oct. 4 after he fell from the car onto the highway.

A 25-year-old man was killed and another man was injured in a shooting in north Charlotte on Friday evening.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Tydarrien Ford was found shot in a car on Custer Street, already dead when they arrived shortly after they were called at 7:54 p.m.

Two weekend shooting deaths have brought Charlotte’s homicide count to its highest level since the 1990s. Since January, 88 people have been killed in the city, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Violent crime continues to rise across Mecklenburg County, up 11% from last year's data, according to statistics released by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Wednesday.

The 74-year-old man who was walking by the Epicentre in uptown Charlotte Monday afternoon when he was struck by a bullet has died. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, John Holaday died Saturday at Carolinas Medical Center.

Sixteen-year-old Raheem Shacklette has now been charged with murder.

The person police believe shot and killed a man at a busy shopping center on South Boulevard Thursday afternoon has been arrested. Twenty-nine year-old Quantez Bazley is charged with murder and shooting into an occupied property.

Police say a man has been killed and another man injured in an early morning shooting in Charlotte's South End. The deceased man's body was found lying in the intersection of Summit Avenue and South Tryon Street, an area known for art galleries, boutiques and trendy breweries.
