The Epicentre in uptown Charlotte has a new owner. The Los Angeles-based CIM Group acquired the mixed-use development for a reported $130.5 million.
CIM Group is the third owner of the 300 thousand square foot Epicentre complex, which had been on the market since last October. The previous owners had spent a reported $23 million on renovations aimed at making the Epicentre more family-friendly.
Charlotte Center City Partners’ CEO Michael Smith says he’s pleased the CIM Group, which owns dozens of retail properties in California, has invested in the Charlotte market.
“I’m excited now to have a group with national relationship and deep experience with urban retail to play a more active role in the future of the Epicentre,” he says.
The Epicentre includes a movie theater, the StrikeCity bowling alley, and Whiskey River, the bar and restaurant owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
CIM Group also owns the BB&T Center office tower.
