'Truist Purple' Blends BB&T, SunTrust Colors For Charlotte's New Banking Giant
Charlotte-based Truist Financial Corp. unveiled its new logo Monday. The new bank, which is a merger between BB&T and SunTrust banks, will now feature a dark purple background with two sideways Ts inside a square.
The specific shade is called "Truist purple" and is a combination of the particular shades of burgundy and blue used by BB&T and SunTrust, respectively.
Truist’s new logo will replace existing branding at BB&T and SunTrust locations. The Charlotte Observer reports the bank will announce Tuesday it is rebranding the SunTrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.
Truist will also light up Hearst Tower in uptown Charlotte Monday night in the new purple color. It recently bought the building for $455 million as its new headquarters.
In a news release Monday, Truist called its new shade of purple "warm and inviting." The Ts apparently represent "touch and technology."
BB&T was based in Winston-Salem and SunTrust in Atlanta. Truist serves about 10 million households and is one of the largest banks in the country. Charlotte is also home to Bank of America and serves as the east coast headquarters of Wells Fargo.
