In a divided nation, can we find common ground in our shared humanity? Public Radio’s Krista Tippett is looking for an answer and her next stop is Charlotte and the Duke Energy Theatre at Spirit Square.

'What does it mean to be human?' Public radio's Krista Tippett has been working to answer that and life's other big questions since launching her public radio show 'Speaking of Faith' in the early 2000s.

Now called 'On Being,' the show specializes in intelligent conversations with deep thinkers on religion, faith, spirituality and ethics. Since it began, the show has won a Peabody Award and Tippett herself received the National Humanities Medal at the White House in 2014 for "thoughtfully delving into the mysteries of human existence."

Recognizing that America can feel like a divided nation, On Being has launched the Civil Conversations Project to help us have better conversations and talk across our differences. In an environment where it seems like it's only gotten more difficult to slow down, listen to and understand one another, perhaps the biggest question now is - can we find common ground in our shared humanity?

Krista Tippett joins Mike Collins to talk about civility in public life as well as the role of religion and faith in our increasingly secular society.

This show was broadcast live from Duke Energy Theatre.
