Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup: No CIAA Post 2020; Trouble for Cross CLT Trail; Harris Runs Away

Friday, January 11th, 2019

The CIAA Tournament dumps Charlotte.  The 9th Congressional District saga continues with Republican Mark Harris running from reporters.  E-scooters are coming closer to being regulated on Charlotte’s streets and the city is looking for $77 million to finish the Cross Charlotte Trail.  Mike Collins and a roundtable of reporters details those and other stories on the Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup.

On this edition of the Local News Roundup...

Charlotte will lose the CIAA Basketball Tournament after 2020. We’ll discuss the loss to the local economy and who some are blaming for the tournament’s departure from the Queen City.

The 9th District Election continues to remain unresolved, but Mark Harris is making news this week for being chased by reporters, and in the process, setting off fire alarms Uptown. We’ll talk about what happened this week at the government center and Harris’ explanation for the behavior—along with an update on the investigation into the 9th District fraud probe.

E-Scooters continue to thrive in Charlotte, but they’ll have to do it with added regulations and conditions ahead.

And City Council learned this week that it is $77 million short in funding necessary to complete the Cross Charlotte Trail, which is now six years in the making and had once been a featured project for the Queen City.

Host Mike Collins will bring you those stories and much more with our roundtable of reporters on the Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup.
