Thousands of Asheville homes and businesses are still without running water or power nearly two weeks after Hurricane Helene. That’s forced many small businesses to shut down, including the many bars and music venues that support Asheville’s music scene. But others in the music industry are rushing to help out.

It’s taken a GoFundMe, an art project auction of theater parts, the formation of a local independent music venue alliance, some CARES Act funding and the promise of a federal grant, but the Neighborhood Theatre is still above water. Its first concert in 15 months is planned for June 17.
