This exciting program features the return of Mthuthuzeli November’s From Africa With Love, alongside Artistic Director Alejandro Cerrudo’s Dos y Dos y Dos, the first work he created for Charlotte Ballet. Completing the evening is a new creation by German American duo FLOCK, inspired by the phoenix and humanity’s enduring love of storytelling, exploring themes that continue to resonate across time. Together, these works deliver a captivating performance in an intimate setting alive with energy, emotion, and moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

In celebration of American Bankers Association Foundation’s “Get Smart About Credit” Day. Join Common Wealth Charlotte for an inspiring evening of community, connection, and giving at an autumn auction fundraiser. Proceeds from the evening support Common Wealth Charlotte’s mission to guide individuals and families through trauma-informed financial education, counseling, and resources that help create stronger financial futures.

As fellow members of the community, the Friends of President Polk's Birthplace Inc. invite you to join us for our second annual fundraiser at the President James K. Polk State Historic Site. The site has proudly served the town of Pineville since its dedication in 1968, providing historical education and programming for all ages.

This fall, we will host a silent auction and a day of fun, games, special presentations, living history and arts and crafts on
​October 17. All proceeds from the Silent Auction and Polk Fest Fundraiser will go directly to The Friends of President Polk's Birthplace, Inc., a 501c3, and provide funding for current and future public programs.

October is one of the best times of year to be stargazing at Grandfather Mountain. The air is cool and clear, and the summer constellations are still very prominent, with some early winter sights making their appearance later in the evening. This course also takes place during the time of the Orionid meteor shower, so hopefully some of these celestial fireworks will grace our skies during our nighttime observing. Join astronomer, educator and author Stephan Martin to create a familiarity with the night sky and learn the basics of stargazing that can be applied on your own on any clear night throughout the year. The course begins in the classroom and transitions to various viewing locations on the mountain, practicing stargazing skills while looking for meteors and learning about some of the most prominent stars, constellations and other objects visible this time of year. The moon will be near first-quarter which makes for a wonderful time to study its many craters, rays, seas and other features. Registration opens online on Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.
