Walk, walker or roll with us up to 5K! The Wheels & Walker-thon: Empowering Lives Through Mobility fundraiser will help Assist ME, an all-volunteer nonprofit, raise funding to provide medical mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and tub transfer benches to those in need throughout the greater Charlotte region.
We invite all abilities and disabilities to register and celebrate mobility freedom at their comfort level (up to 5K) at the fully accessible Park Road Park in Charlotte. Register solo or form a team! We'll be taking fun photos and live streaming on event day. Easy peer-to-peer fundraising tools are provided. Can't attend? Join our Virtual Walk & Rollers Club!
It may come as a surprise to many that it's hard for those with low incomes and little to no insurance (or have Medicaid gaps) to acquire the mobility equipment they need for accidents, surgery recovery or chronic conditions and disabilities. 75% of our recipients are ages 5-64. We quickly run out of wheelchairs and also accept gently used equipment (see our website for items accepted). Help us bridge these gaps by joining and sharing our event. Let's empower lives through mobility together!
Gates open at 8:00 a.m. with 9:00 a.m. start. Food trucks on site. Free water! Fully accessible with handicap parking and restrooms. Medical mobility devices only: No skateboards, bicycles or non-medical scooters, etc.
For more details, please visit www.assistmenc.com/events. Please share and see you there!
