Solo Exhibition by Artist Carl Hercules Childs. "A Story About Infinite Numbers, Letters & Symbols" is a highly interactive show featuring Japanese Water Marbling, Leatherworks, Composite shields, Aurora Borealis and Black light reactive paintings. This show pulls you in with Haiku poems to read and a scavenger hunt for information and images in different paintings. There are also opportunities to learn other languages, primary colors, numbers, A, B C's and shapes. This event is perfect for the 100 years young Artist, the Pre-K Artist and everyone else.

All throughout September, guests are invited to join the mountain’s naturalists as they count and celebrate the annual spectacle of fall raptor migration. Participants can observe the migration from viewing locations on Linville Peak (across the Mile High Swinging Bridge) and Half Moon Overlook (the first major overlook when entering the park). Included with admission.

Flat Footed Truths: Stories of Lived Experiences is a juried quilt exhibition featuring quilts and fiber art that depict the soul-stirring, truth-telling, and compelling stories of African American women.

This exhibit is named and influenced by the book written by Patricia Bell-Scott, Flat Footed Truths: Telling Black Women’s Lives. These stories and the truths they tell come to life in this unforgettable exhibit.

Mooresville Arts presents Heaven on Earth, a curated exhibition featuring the work of 17 North Carolina artists. The Center Gallery showcases paintings, mixed media, photography, ceramics, glass, sculpture, and more, highlighting the diverse talent of artists from across the state.

Face Off, on display in the Skylight Gallery, features portraits by more than 40 local and regional artists. The exhibition explores portraiture in many forms, including self-portraits, people and loved ones, pets, and animals, with works spanning painting, drawing, photography, fiber arts, pottery, and more.

Most artwork is available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting participating artists and Mooresville Arts. For private exhibit tours, call the gallery at 704-663-6661.

Dr. Brooke Bauer, Associate Professor, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, presents a lecture about her family’s experience at the Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Pennsylvania.

"Americans" was developed by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. The exhibition was adapted for travel by Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and state humanities councils across the country. The Litmosphere exhibition brings to life a creative dialogue between visual art and the written word. Flipping the traditional paradigm of art inspiring text, this exhibition showcases a creative collaboration where the written word led the way.

Litmosphere: Journal of Charlotte Lit, published biannually, featured the artwork of Amy Hart in the Spring 2026 issue. Hart, a fine art photographer and UNC Charlotte Creative Photographic Director, collaborated closely with Charlotte Lit Press Editor-in-Chief Kathie Collins and Managing Editor Paul Reali, to curate the collection and pair her work with the issue’s vivid poems and stories. The result: a dynamic conversation between the visual and literary arts. This exhibition, designed by Director of Galleries Adam Justice, extends that conversation on a larger scale, showing how one medium can deepen and enrich the experience of another.

The reception on September 24 will include a conversation with the artist and readings from the literary journal by the Charlotte Lit community.

WFAE, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, hosts this Charlotte Talks Live conversation about the constitutional amendments on the North Carolina ballot this year.
