All throughout September, guests are invited to join the mountain’s naturalists as they count and celebrate the annual spectacle of fall raptor migration. Participants can observe the migration from viewing locations on Linville Peak (across the Mile High Swinging Bridge) and Half Moon Overlook (the first major overlook when entering the park). Included with admission.

TREO Foundation’s The Walk is the only national walk event raising awareness
about obesity and medical treatment options. This peer-to-peer fundraiser
features a “set your own pace” walk or run. Events may include exercise warmups,
healthy food-prep demonstrations, expert speakers, and information on
local obesity care options.

Our Mission
To raise funds, advance research, promote education, and
advocate for equitable care for those affected by obesity, while
fostering health and well-being inclusive solutions for all.

Why The Walk?
The CDC reports, nearly 42% of adults are affected by the disease of obesity
in the United States
Obesity can decrease life expectancy by 7-14 years
Obesity increases the risk of life-threatening conditions such as diabetes,
heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea, some cancers, complications from
COVID-19, and more

Celebrate two decades of artistry, community, and craftsmanship at the 20th Anniversary Potters Market at the Mint. This juried event brings together 55 of North Carolina’s most highly regarded potters alongside collectors and ceramic enthusiasts from across the region. The event includes an artist talk with renowned Pueblo ceramic artist Virgil Ortiz at 1 PM. Plus, live pottery demonstrations, bluegrass music, a beer garden and café, and blind-bidding auction throughout the day. For this milestone year, Potters Market at the Mint is a proud participant in Handwork 2026, Craft in America’s year-long semiquincentennial collaboration among organizations, educators and makers to showcase the importance of the handmade and celebrates the diversity of the crafts that define America.

Flat Footed Truths: Stories of Lived Experiences is a juried quilt exhibition featuring quilts and fiber art that depict the soul-stirring, truth-telling, and compelling stories of African American women.

This exhibit is named and influenced by the book written by Patricia Bell-Scott, Flat Footed Truths: Telling Black Women’s Lives. These stories and the truths they tell come to life in this unforgettable exhibit.

Internationally acclaimed Pueblo artist Virgil Ortiz, recognized worldwide for his groundbreaking work in pottery, fashion, and contemporary Indigenous art, presents a public lecture as part of Handwork 2026, Craft in America’s national celebration of creativity during America’s 250th anniversary. The talk is free with admission to The Mint Museum or a Potters Market at the Mint ticket.

The documentary explores the world of Minnie Evans, a visionary Black artist from North Carolina who spent decades working as a gatekeeper at Airlie Gardens while driven by powerful, divine visions to create intricate, vibrant artwork. Guided by an undeniable inner mandate to "draw or die," her self-taught style transcended traditional boundaries, earning her a celebrated place in American art history. This event is part of the Southern Circuit Tour Of Independent Filmmakers, sponsored by South Arts and the National Endowment For The Arts, and presented by the CineOdyssey Film Festival and Little Rock Cultural Center in Charlotte, NC.
